The Veterans & Young Farmers Alliance (VYFA) believes it's time for a practical, farmer-focused solution.

Today, we are proud to introduce the VYFA National Farm Readiness & Modernization Standard (NFRMS)—a voluntary framework designed to help farms evaluate where they are today, identify opportunities for improvement, and prepare for the future of American agriculture.

What is the NFRMS?

The National Farm Readiness & Modernization Standard is a comprehensive assessment framework that helps farms measure their readiness across the most important aspects of modern agricultural operations.

Rather than acting as another regulatory requirement, the NFRMS is intended to serve as a roadmap.

It gives farmers a clear picture of their strengths while identifying practical, affordable improvements that can increase productivity, profitability, sustainability, and long-term resilience.

Whether a producer operates a 50-acre family farm, a dairy, a cattle ranch, or a larger commercial operation, the goal is the same:
