About Veterans & Young Farmers Alliance (VYFA)

Veterans & Young Farmers Alliance (VYFA) exists to close two growing gaps in America: the loss of family farms and the lack of stable, purpose-driven opportunities for veterans and young people who want to work the land.

We are building a pathway into agriculture that is practical, accessible, and sustainable—especially for those who are locked out by high land costs, limited capital, and complex systems that favor large-scale operations.

VYFA focuses on education first. Our workshops and training programs are designed to equip new and aspiring farmers with real-world skills, starting with financial survival, budgeting, and planning. We believe that before anyone can succeed in farming, they must understand the numbers, the risks, and how to stay afloat long enough to grow.

Our long-term vision includes securing a starter farm that will serve as a hands-on training and demonstration site—where workshops move from theory into practice, and participants can learn by doing. This farm will be used for education, mentorship, and community-based learning, not profit-driven agriculture.

We also advocate for better access to land, funding, and long-term stability for veterans and young farmers, recognizing that food security, housing security, and economic independence are deeply connected.

VYFA is built on the belief that farming is more than an occupation—it is a form of service, stewardship, and resilience. By investing in people, knowledge, and community, we are planting the seeds for a stronger, more secure future for those who want to feed this country and care for its land.
